Former NRC Board Chair Rebukes
Recorded KAB Statements |
The message

Chair is in response to
statements made by KAB
President, Matt McKenna at the
CRRA Town Hall Meeting that took
place at the CRRA 2009
Conference on Aug 4, 2009.
An audio recording of the town
hall meeting is available at:

Subject: RE:
"NRC-KAB Merger is Bankrupt"
Importance: High
If the proposed
takeover of NRC by KAB is going to
work, we must be able to trust the
representations that have been made
by KAB as they have pushed for our
support for the agreement.
Unfortunately, an issue has come up
that has soured me completely on the
proposal.
It has come to me
attention that on a conference call
with CRRA Mr. Matt McKenna of KAB
said that the President of NRC
turned down an offer to try
partnering on projects with KAB.
Nothing could be further from the
truth.
As a member of the
NRC Board's initial negotiating team
with KAB I will tell you that it was
NRC President David Refkin who
brought up the idea of a trial run
at a merger by partnering on
projects so the two organizations
could get to know one another and
see if the merger would be a good
fit. This position had the complete
support of all Board members on the
team.
The KAB team, led by
Mr. McKenna expressed no real
interest in this idea, strongly
wanting to push forward with a
merger. As a result of this
position our original merger
discussions broke off.
The NRC Board met as a whole to
discuss the initial merger
discussions. We expressed our
desire to keep the lines of
communication open, and again asked
our President Mr. Refkin to again
approach KAB with the partnership
idea. Again, this idea was met with
rejection.
I was very
disheartened to learn of the
misrepresentation of the NRC-KAB
program partnership proposal during
the CRRA call. It gives me serious
doubts about the ability of KAB to
live up to other representations
that have been made in the last
several weeks in their efforts to
secure support for the proposed
merger.
I have held back on
openly working to defeat the
proposed merger out of loyality to
my firends on the NRC Board and
staff. But, given this most recent
misrepresentation I feel I have no
choice but to come out publically
and urge all NRC members to vote NO.
